Webinar: How to Ask Gender Identity & Sexual Orientation?

Date: POSTPONED - New Date TBD

With: Greg Stucky, Chief Research Officer, Kristin Wright, VP Research and Insights

Asking gender identity & sexual orientation questions in surveys is sensitive, and should be handled with care.  Researchers need to be mindful to improve these questions to ensure we are taking the best care of the people we are speaking to, improve participation, and obtain the best possible information.

This webinar will showcase how asking questions that capture different brain processes helped us to identify the best ways to ask about gender identity and sexual orientation. We will discuss how leveraging implicit reactions helps get past people giving only a "socially correct" rationalized answer, and how balancing rationalization, choice, and implicit provides clearer guidance for asking the best gender identity and sexual orientation questions.  We will highlight the Insights Association's recent work on Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation and share initial topline results.

 We'll cover:

  • Various methods and techniques used to assess how people feel about the questions
  • Ways the brain processes information to give a response to different question types
  • Initial results from the Insights Association IDEA Council study
Come learn how insights research can help the industry engage all people more inclusively.
